Raised in small village of Tao Xa, Thai Binh Province, North Vietnam
Father killed during Viet Minh attack on village in 1951.
Mother remarried to wealthy practitioner of Chinese medicine, a widower whose wife was killed in French bombing raid.
Family relocated to South Vietnam in 1954, during mass exodus, and was forced to move constantly due to economic, political, and military conditions.
Family eventually settled near Vung Tau, south of Saigon.
Left home at early age to seek work at various menial jobs in Saigon to help family and escape physical abuse from stepfather.
Met and married an American Air Force Officer in 1968 and accompanied him to the United States in 1971.
Gave birth to and raised three children (two boys and one girl), and now have five grandchildren.
Obtained High School GED and attended many college courses after becoming a Naturalized American citizen in 1973.
Graduated first in class from School of Cosmetology and received certification from State of South Carolina.
Owner/operator for over 20 years, of successful "Linda B." Beauty Salon in Charleston, SC.
