Laala Kashef Alghata
Manama, Bahrain Email: laala.ali@gmail.com Laala Kashef Alghata is a eighteen-year-old novelist and poet. Her first book, 'Friendship in Knots' was written when she was 10 and 11 and published in 2003 as the first book written directly in English by a Bahraini writer.
She spent the subsequent three years developing her writing skills and delving deep into the heart of poetry. At sixteen, she published her second book, 'Behind the Mask: A Folded Heart', a poetry and prose collection (now available on Amazon.co.uk), to positive reviews.
Despite being a Sixth Form student, she writes continuously. She is also a regular contributor to both Bahrain and Kuwait issues of Clientele, a lifestyle magazine.
Her poetry has been accepted online in All Things Girl, Argotist Online, LaFenetre, Because We Write, Pens on Fire, The Blotter and elsewhere. She is also the editor of the online poetry journal, Write Me a Metaphor.
She will be attending university in September to study a joint degree in Psychology and English. In the meantime, whatever time she has to herself between writing and studying, she squanders reading. Interests: Writing, reading, photography, art, psychology.
