All art forms converge in the movies, and that's why I enjoy talking and writing about them so much. Because of our passion for film, my husband and I see almost 200 movies a year. I currently serve as lead critic for ReelTalk Movie Reviews and write film commentary for KOAA Online (an NBC-affiliate Web site) and the Colorado Senior Beacon. I also write film reviews for The Romance Club and discuss movies weekly with Laura Mills-Alcott on the ReelTalk Movie Reviews radio show. In addition, I teach an online course, "The Reel Deal: Writing about Movies," for the Long Story Short School of Writing.
While serving as Dean of Humanities at San Diego Mesa College, I supervised expansion of the film studies curriculum, designed an “Exploring Human Values through Film” course, coordinated the “Reel To Real Film Forum” program, and performed with the Mesa Musical Comedy Touring Troupe.
I belong to the Online Film Critics Society and helped found the San Diego Film Critics’ Society. My two movie related books, CONFESSIONS OF A MOVIE ADDICT and SUSAN SARANDON: A TRUE MAVERICK, have received rave reviews from film fans and critics alike. The Romance Club E-Book version of IT HAD TO BE US, a romantic memoir my husband and I co-authored (under the pseudonyms of Harry & Elizabeth Lawrence) was honored at the 2006 Hollywood Book Festival as the winner in the E-Book category.
