Linda Cookingham

Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, United States

Born and raised in upstate New York where I lived with my husband, dog, and have two grown children, we recently moved to South Carolina. I live along the Grand Strand and have been intensely inspired by the setting. Years ago I graduated with a duel master's degree in Education Psychology and Administration. My interest in writing began as a child making up stories and using my grandmother's old Royal typewriter to pound them out. I was always developing characters and stories in my mind and while some kids loved television, I preferred to spend my time writing and reading. I got interested in suspense, romance, thrillers and the supernatural. I especially like psychological thrillers where tension is around every corner. I often write about good vs. evil and the underdog that fights the odds. When I do watch TV, detective shows and the supernatural are huge favorites of mine. As far as reading, I have many favorite authors and no one particularly favorite book. In my own writing, I love to create characters with flaws and characters that the reader can practically see and feel -- strong characters with desires and conflicts. I have written a series very much like this. The first two books in the series were published, but, a couple of years later, I bought back my rights and have been totally revamping the books. Almost completely rewritten and revised, the entire story has a better feel to it with more drama. My goal is to publish this series along with other works I recently completed. My biggest goal is to continue to improve in my craft and bring along dedicated readers who enjoy better than average fiction.

Interests: fiction, suspense, romance, thrillers. Animals, nature, photography, the ocean. Travel. Humor.
