Renée Ballerini-Sigel was born and raised in South Africa. She first published essays at the age of fourteen. Recognised by the English Academy of South Africa, her poetry was published in the English Academic Review when she was still an undergraduate. She went on to make a name for herself as a bi-monthly fine art columnist at a major daily South African newspaper and as arts and theatre editor for a lifestyle magazine. She briefly opened Renée Sigel Fine Art, an art agency, before intense political pressure forced relocation to Switzerland in 1993. During her nine year sojourn there, she collaborated as a translator on several award winning film documentaries and worked with the Zurich Opera House. SEXIONS, Selections from Life and Love, her début poetry collection is published by Bewrite Books. Her work has appeared in various journals and online literary sites. She runs specialised online editorial masterclasses and publishes Literati Magazine (www.literati-magazine.com dedicated to showcasing international creative excellence. She lives in northern Italy. She has written three novels.
