Arthia A. Nixon was born in The Bahamas where she began her professional writing career as a staff reporter for a national newspaper at 17. By 21, her writings and photographs were featured in numerous publications in The Bahamas, North America and The Caribbean, including newspapers, newsletters, in-flight magazines and calendars. Her writing has encompassed a variety of mediums including journalism, feature writing, poetry and novels for children and adult audiences. A great lover of the arts, Arthia has starred in some major Bahamian productions as an actress and she also enjoyed a brief stint as a dancer. Arthia's favorite role is being mother to her energetic toddler Alejandra affectionately known as Baby Beluga, who serves as the main inspiration behind her children's books. She and her family currently live in The Bahamas and often visit Montreal, QC Canada, where her husband is from. She also works under the name Arthia Nixon-Stack.
