Rod Macmillan is a committed writer, photographer and traveller. He has recently published a “How to” book on photographing people, and is currently working with a publisher on another title. He has also published a portfolio of his work in “The Photography and Imaging Yearbook”.
Rod was brought up on a diet of National Geographic magazines and, at the age of 13, applied unsuccessfully for a job as a staff photographer with the US-based organisation! Despite this predictable setback he continued to dream of meeting and photographing people in faraway places. At seventeen he ventured into Africa alone, and was enthralled by the sights and sounds of unfamiliar cultures. He resolved, quite consciously, to explore the planet.
He has now visited almost every corner of the globe, having travelled in 100 countries and all seven continents. He particularly enjoys remote areas such as Papua New Guinea, Tibet and Antarctica. Along the way he has accumulated a personal library of 40,000 images. His written and photographic work has been published in numerous magazines and books, and he has several exhibitions to his credit.
Rod is a Fellow of both the Royal Photographic Society and the Royal Geographical Society.
