One of my fondest memories as a writer came from the first comic book I ever read, a Neal Adams-drawn issue of Batman that I had found ripped up on my way home from school. I collected all of the pages I could find, took them home and meticulously put them all back in order. I believe that was when I was first exposed to some of the principles of good storytelling. My second grade teacher reading J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobitt to his class as a powerful influence, also.
I've been writing stories since I was ten years old, and I self-published the comic book "Mr. Prime" in high school before attending the University of Michigan to major in Graphic Arts. While there, I spent two years as an urban entertainment reviewer for the Michigan Daily newspaper. I took creative writing courses under the tutelage of novelists Jonis Agee (Strange Angels, South of Resurrection, Sweet Eyes) and Tish O'Dowd (Floaters).
I self-published a bunch of comics while I was there, too.
I love storytelling, and I've written everything from Crime to Fantasy to Sci-Fi to Young Adult to Urban Melodrama. I like to ask "what if" and letting my mind roam in coming up with the answers. I've published a book, but because it's through Publish America (loooooong story), I guess technically it doesn't count as actually being published. Which sucks. But I'm still writing...
Interests: I'm a Geek, and proud of it! Comic Books, Magic: The Gathering, Video Games, & Fantasy Basketball are what I'm involved in when I'm not writing.
