Eliot Cohen is a writer, editor, broadcast news producer and writing consultant who has been based in Hong Kong since 1995.
In Hong Kong, in addition to television news, Cohen has been an editor at Bloomberg, the South China Morning Post and the Hong Kong Standard. He has written for Time, The Columbia Review of Journalism, Asiaweek, and Asia Times Online, among more than two dozen publications overall.
As a baseball writer in the US, Cohen was principal author of The 1990 Baseball Annual (Warner Books, 1990) with John Thorn and Pete Palmer and My Greatest Day in Baseball (Simon & Schuster, 1991). He edited Who's Who in Baseball from 1988-94, deciding just who was who, and for five years wrote the "Breaking Balls" column for Washington CityPaper. He was a press box reporter for UPI and Reuters, and founded the pioneering newsletter Major League Monthly. His work has also appeared in Sports Illustrated, Inside Sports, USA Today Baseball Weekly, Sport, The New York Times, Washington Post, Newsday, Total Baseball, and The Whole Baseball Catalogue.
