Allyson Diana

Stafford Springs, Connecticut, United States

Email: allydpc@cox.net

Home page: http://www.geocities.com/shadesofromances

Allyson wrote her first short story in the 8th Grade, An American Dream, depicting the story of her great grandfather who emigrated from England to America as a cabin boy on a ship. Later that same year she wrote her first play. Since that moment on, she yearned to put her own original plays on the stage and her original works to novels.

She studied writing with the Children’s Institute of Literature for two years and majored in English, minoring in Theater during her College Days. Longing to stay in her hometown state of Connecticut, Ally declined an offer to work at job in press and public relations in Washington to pursue her dream of writing novels and performing original theater.

In 1990 her theater and writing dreams were realized creating an all-original theater group, Downstairs Production Company (DPC). Over the past 15 years, Ally has written over 60 DPC scripts to date, as well as directed most of them. She has performed in over 150 productions and for the past 5 years, she has written and directed DPC Kids' Theater and Workshop Series each summer, teaching acting to children age 8 to 15.

Ally has also written several columns in area newspapers, including The Hartford Courant, Hartford Business Journal and the Commercial Record. She currently works as a freelance writer for The Reminder Press Newspapers covering Northeastern Connecticut.

Receiving much of her theatrical background from her high school and college days, studying at Albano's School of Performing Arts and others as an actress.

Ally has since continued her writing with novels, novellas, screenplays for two independent films, and many more playscripts.

Her work has been self-published and sold in her hometown as well as on the internet at http://lulu.com/allyangel
