i was born in lusaka in 1982. my parents were then at the university of zambia. i do not remember much of my childhood though, i was shuffled from one place to the other from 1989 onwards. that was when my mother passed away and my father was pursuing a masters degree at the texas technical university in the united states. when he returned in 1992, i only had four years with him before i was sent to a boarding school. my experiences there have shaped my view about the world. The period i was at the school was also the most economically challenging in zambia's history. mass privatisation and corruption brought subhuman standards of living. most of my former schoolmates are pimps, thugs and general hustlers dealing with the realities of a collapsed african economy. i frequently interact with these and it is from this interaction that i got the push to write. i want to expose their world and the dilemma zambia, like most african countries finds itself in. my experiences in Namibia my delinquency led to my dropping out of university are another inspiration. iright now i live with a relatives who works for the african union in Malawi.
