Bart King
I am a writer living in Portland, Oregon. My books include:
THE BIG BOOK OF BOY STUFF (2004): This book went through six printings in its first year. It was Amazon.com's bestselling children's book (and 5th best overall selling book.) An irreverant combination of MAD magazine and a Boy Scouts manual, it was alternately praised and reviled by critics, but mostly the former.
THE BIG BOOK OF GIRL STUFF (2006): Written in collaboration with my five sisters and dozens of teen and "tween" girls, this volume may redefine its genre. (Being the only book of its kind, this shouldn't prove difficult.)
AN ARCHITECTURAL GUIDEBOOK TO PORTLAND (2001): This guide to one of America's most livable cities was critically well received. You've got to like that.
In addition to my other writing, my Masters thesis on Southeast Asia was run as a series in VIETNAM magazine. I've taught middle school for the past 15 years. Interests: Reading, playing the bass, self-aggrandizement.
