Born March 11th, 1979, in Mexico City, Omegar Martínez is a writer who has been deemed as "one of the maximum young literary revelations" among mexican writers, according to Mexico's Channel 11.
Omegar has centered himself in perfecting sort stories and short-shorts (quite minimal works, often no more than a few lines long). He has recieved numerous awards for such an effort, including 4 granted by the prestigious University of Salamanca in Spain, one granted by the Universidad Iberoamericana (Iberoamerican University), and another granted by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Omegar has been published in several magazines and a couple of newspapers, as well as in an anthology, titled Escritos Disconformes: Nuevos Modelos de Lectura [Unconforming writing: New Models for Reading] published by the University of Salamanca in Spain. He has also published a collection of short stories, titled Con Subtítulos en Inglés [With Subtitles in English] published by Ediciones Eon in Mexico City in 2005, which has recieved great reviews.
Omegar has a BA degree in Latin American Literature from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, an unfinished degree in Media Studies and Journalism by the UNAM and a Cultural Journalism Specialization Certificate by the Center for Studies in Art and Journalism (PART) also in Mexico City.
Omegar Martínez currently lives and works in Mexico City.
