Dr. Tapan Bagchi is a major poet of nineties of Bengali Language. He was born in 23th October 1967, in Madaripur District, Bangladesh. His mother Jyotirmoyee Bagchi is a housewife and his father Tustocharan Bagchi was grduated from the University of Dhaka and served the nation as a gazetted officer. Bagchi's wife Keya Bala is a member of BCS (general education) cadre service. They are the parents of Tuneer Bagchi & Dwitiya Bagchi Chhuti.
Poet Tapan Bagchi has 4 books of poems. He has written almost 32 books in various issues. These are published from the prominent publishing house of bangladesh such as Bangla Academy, Nazrul Institute, MMC, BCDJC etc. He has an MA in Mass Communication and Journalism. He earned his PhD degree in Traditional Communication by doing research under the supervision of renowned Lalon-researcher Professor Dr. Abul Ahsan Chowdhury and Poet Dr. Mohammad Moniruzzaman.
He is one of the members of central executive committee of National Poetry Council, Bangladesh. He is a Life-member of Bangla Academy. He is also a member of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh. He works as a Publication & Publicity Secratery of Editing and Publication Association of Bangladesh (EPAB).
He worked as a Researcher and a Freelance Journalist in Bangladesh.
He has got POET JASIMUDDIN RESEARCH AWARD 1997 for research on literature. He also earned'MUNIR CHOWDHURY LITERARY AWARD 1990' for Literature by Sangskriti Samsad, Dhaka.
