As the parent of two children with disabilities, virtually all of my published writings (op ed pieces and the like) have been advocacy pieces for children and adult with cognitive impairments. Not that I don't like that kind of writing, but I don't like to be limited to it.
The writing I love embraces a variety of topics and settings, but I enjoy creating memorable characters. I like people with some great strengths but also with human frailties, set in realistic situations and making realistic choices. Human drama is created not by wallowing in misfortune, but in coping with it, in an imperfect way. Human triumph comes from having a purpose and living up to that purpose. Interests: Music (almost all genres), sports, history, cultures, advocating for people with disabilities, new places, good films...oh, yes - books.
