Written during my divorce, my first novel The Fifth Cylinder reflects the pain, fear and uncertainty of life. The protagonist Immanual Thor is a WWII survivor who decides to seek revege after a particularly grusome incident. After using innovative brain enhancements, cutting edge genetic engineering and manipulation, he succeeds to elevate his revenge from a personal to a global perspective.
The heros are an unlikely couple: Sandy is a Capetonian investment executive whose tidy existence is shattered when Thor's bloody revenge slams into her life and drags her into a world of madness, death and global conflict.
Michael is a burnt out writer whose most significant coincidence in his life brings him into the path of the vengeful Thor who is trying to eliminate Sandy. Pursued from Cape Town to Washington to Munich, Thor is relentless in his determination to kill them. From Munich to the Bosphorus Straits to the terrifying climax under the surface of the Mamara Sea, Sandy and Michael are forced beyond their terror level as they seek to avert both a military and genetic conflict from destroying our world.
I love the book, but would like to rewrite the first three chapters to further enhance its appeal.
