I've worked as a full-time freelance writer since 1986. Before that, I worked as a journalist and newspaper columnist.
My freelance feature work has appeared in dozens of publications over the years, ranging from comics to sports to popular culture.
A short-lived comics series I wrote and created, Star Rangers, was adapted as an equally short-lived (deservedly so) five episode TV series, Space Rangers in the early 90s.
I also served a three year stint as the editor of Millennium Publications, interfacing with Anne Rice, Harlan Ellison, Doug Wildey, Frank Frazetta and other well known members of the science-fiction/fantasy creative community.
You can take a look at a sampling of some of my comics work here:

I am the author of forty-five novels, most of them published under the pen-name of James Axler.
I created the Outlanders series for Harlequin Enterprises and I've been writing it since 1996.
I've been featured in Comics Scene, Fangoria and Starlog magazines and interviewed by Robert Siegel for NPR's All Things Considered.
