We tell a tale for our pastime
Colour words mix yours with mine
Add a feeling that we had
Tell of good times mourn of bad
We tell of those that we have lost
We tell of love and tempest-tossed
Mend a heart with simple words
Of grand harbors and tiny birds
We see the world through watchful eyes
Are fond of friends and long good-byes
A poets world is full of hope
A song of life on a quarter note
We do not understand sometimes
Our musings are often hard to define
But we comfort in the humble word
We make what's in our minds be heard
We often have our brains on fire
And of words we never tire
If you have not hugged your poet today
Grab them round the neck and say
You make it easier to get out of bed
With the things that you have said
I am by your lovely words led
I dreamed last night of what you said
And my soul is now well fed
And I know that your next one read
Will be the best that you've done yet
