Sandy Henry

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Email: sandyhenrywrites@aol.com

Home page: sandyhenry.com

I am the author of a children's picture book, A Child's Bedtime Companion, scheduled for a holiday 2005 release. My new collection of short fiction, Gunsmoke: Legends of the Long Branch, was awarded a second prize in the 2004 DIY Book Festival, and I am currently marketing the manuscript to agents and publishers.

This summer, several of my poems and stories inspired by the TV series Gunsmoke are scheduled for publication. My poem "Festus Speak" was chosen by author Ben Costello for inclusion in his new book, Gunsmoke: An American Institution (Five Star Publications, August 2005).

Additional published works include Something Borrowed, Something Blue, a romantic thriller. This book was my first, and I chose to go with Llumina Press, a Print on Demand company. My POD experience was a good one, and it did for me what I'd hoped it would...led to traditional publishing contracts.

I am also featured with notables Joyce Maynard, Betty Rollin, Oprah Winfrey and Susan Sarandon in Changing Course (Adams Media, 2004), the new collection of empowering works by bestselling author Yitta Halberstam (Small Miracles).

I live with my husband and two Labrador Retrievers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Professional Affiliations: Sisters in Crime, PennWriters, Women in Film. Co-founder Waterfront Writers Workshop, Pittsburgh, PA.
