Married to spouse with international banking, real estate, and hotel experience, and History of Art academic degrees. Two adult sons, three grandchildren, and one 18 year old son at U.S. university. After getting bored with reading for the Bar, but not with playing cricket five days a week, first employment was as a financial analyst for Projects International Division of W.A. Ingram Associates, involved in M & A and licensing arrangements for U.S. and U.K. companies expanding into the U.K. and Europe. Acted as Principal of the Firm for one year in 1967 following death of the founder (Based in London)
1968 – 1973
Investment Analyst, then Personal Assistant to the Chairman of both Anglo American Corporation of South Africa and De Beers Consolidated Mines, Mr. Harry Oppenheimer (Based in Johannesburg)
1973 – 1987
With North American affiliates of the Anglo American Group, first in Toronto and then in New York, as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of businesses in mining, petroleum, agriculture and venture capital
1987 – 2001
Seduced by the charms of a château in Picardy, created from scratch a profitable, highly-regarded, hotel/conference center in elegant XVIII century Château de Remaisnil
1998 – 2003
Motivated by a desire to return to the real world, became Senior Director for Europe, Africa & Middle East of Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA), the leading energy research and consulting firm in the world, focused on energy markets, economics and strategies, and headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.. (Based in Paris, then Rome)
2003 – 2004
A Writer, based in the Eternal City, and Lecturer at Postgraduate Program in Management of Energy Resources (“SAFE” – Sostenibilita Ambientale Fonti Energetiche).
