Writing, to me, is as essential as the air I breathe. Since I was a child, I've wanted to earn a living by sharing my thoughts and literary creations with the world. I have published some ariticles and columns, but I have yet to see a dime. This doesn't matter. I know this because I made the decision a few years ago to stop writing and I nearly lost my mind. I could more easily give up water.

What I need is the right person to see my potential. I can write about anything. Give me a subject and I'll give you valuable material.

The worst advice I've ever gotten was, "Write what you know". Writing what you know brings out too many emotions and it shows. Suddenly, your article becomes a "letter to the editor".

Advice to aspiring writers like myself? Read a lot, reflect, go somewhere quiet, do writing exercises, and research, research, research.
