Studied Sanskrit at the Hindu University Benares and Bangalore University (D.Phil); studied Hebrew and Aramaic in Jerusalem and UC Berkeley.
Taught Renaissance literature and neo-Platonism at St Peter's College, Oxford. Teaching positions at York University and University of Toronto.
Worked as writer-producer-director in film and television for several years. Numerous awards for television and print journalism, including Golden Rose at Montreux, Presidents medal at National Magazine Awards, Association of Canadian Journalists Award for Excellence in Investigative Reporting.
Several books of non-fiction, a novel, short stories, and the first English translation of the complete "Zohar" in 22 volumes. Currently working on translations of other key Kabbalist texts, as well as a long novel set in Canada.
Lives in Italy and Toronto. Interests: Literary Fiction, Travel, Philosophy.
