Dave P. Fisher

Sparks, Nevada, United States

Iím originally from Oregon, and lived in the West all my life. Now I make my permanent home in Sparks, Nevada. After school I went on the rodeo circuit and worked for a cattle company in western Oregon, and then moved on to wrangling horses and packing for hunting and guide outfitters. I worked in the wilds of the Alaska Bush for three years where I saw some of the greatest beauty left on earth. In Montana I took out ten-day, 100-mile trips over the divide through the Bob Marshal. I later went to Wyoming and ran horses in the shadow of the Tetons. I finally ended up in Colorado packing for Rocky Mountain National Park, which was the best job I ever had.
My other passions are fly fishing and fly tying. I have tied professionally for over twenty-five years, and have a website that features fishing flies and fly displays. I have had several magazine articles published pertaining to fly fishing, fly tying, and the outdoors.

My attention these days is focused on writing Western novels and short stories. My short stories have been compared by editors to be in the style of Louis LíAmour. My stories have been published both in print and in on-line e-zines.
I have six western novels completed. Three are the first in a series, three are stand alone books. These will all be published by Double Diamond Books, Sparks, Nevada. My novels, The Strawberry Mountain War and Yates - U.S. Marshal, are currently available through all on-line book sellers and my website
My writing reflects my knowledge of Western history, my experiences as a working cowboy, my family heritage which includes mountain men and Canadian voyageurs, and my travels to various western locations. Iíve also had four volumes of Cowboy Poetry published, but they are presently out of print, and many individual poems have been re-published both on-line and in print.

I am a cowboy poetry and western storytelling performer.

Member of the Academy of Western Artists, National Storytelling Network, and the Nevada Storytellers Network.
