I'm a 56 year-old father of 2 boys. Graduated with a BA in Journalism but except for a short 2 year stint in the 70s as a weekly columnist, never "journalized."
Had a smidge of success freelancing in the 70's. Smidge = a few magazine pieces and the aforementioned column. Smidge also = couldn't pay bills and still eat once in a while.
Quit writing for nearly 20 years while I paid some bills and ate. Sold my business in 1999, have been living off the (now-diminished) proceeds and writing full time since.
My first book, What Fish Don't Want You to Know, was published in August 2003. It's a humourous how-to about, yes, you guessed it, fishing.
I recently contributed two essays to an anthology assembled by Jenna Glatzer of Absolute Write. It's called Stories of Strength. All proceeds are earmarked for charitable organizations dealing with disaster relief.
