I began writing in 1989 after reading a number of Harlequin romances and deciding I could do that too. I quickly found out that I wasn't as good as I thought I was, and that writing wasn't as easy as it looked. Ten long years later, after reading dozens of books on writing, and checking out tons of novels from my local library (special thanks to Sidney Sheldon, Barbara Taylor Bradford, and Janet Dailey for teaching me a whole lot), I sold my first romance novel, a steamy bit of business about Hollywood. The company tanked, but I was on a roll. I had one novel published, and I figured I could do it again. My second novel was, of course, autobiographical. I didn't sell it until 2002. That sale sparked more confidence and more books. Today I have 5 published romantic suspense novels in circulation, and my first nonfiction book, "Don't Call Me African American." I have also had over 100 articles, poems, and short stories published nationwide. I love romance with a bit of mystery. I also love science fiction. I am moving into writing multicultural fiction, starring black characters and interracial couples.
Interests: I make clothes for people and for porcelain dolls. I also collect porcelain dolls and restore them.
