As a young girl, I grew up in a small rustic mountain community in the beautiful California Sierra’s. At age sixteen I was painfully shy and barely managed to venture out of the house. My three sisters had already married, leaving me home alone with my parents and pets to keep me company. Imagine that! So my mother, bless her heart, got me started on romance novels. Within a few months I was reading one a week and sometimes one a day. It was a wonderful gift, to loose myself in someone else’s version of a life and love. And it was at that time, I knew that I would one day help transport someone else into a world of love and romance.
Twenty-five years, one husband, two kids and two grandbabies later, I finally sat down to my laptop and started writing. My first manuscript still sits in a drawer unfinished, but it was the learning experience I needed to get me going. One day I’ll finish it. My second and third manuscripts were done within my first year of writing. “The Overlanders Bride” and “Bewitching My Love”. Both manuscripts soon gained acceptance by my new publisher “The Creek”.
Each and every time I sit down to write I go back in time and remember all of those books and authors who inspired me. Every word, sentence, paragraph and manuscript will be a tribute to them all. However, my husband and kids will always be my inspiration.
After attending college in California in the early 80’s I began a long career working in Medical Insurance. And now after what seems a lifetime, I’m able to work on my on my goal as a romance novelist. My road to romance started in the 70’s, but my dream became a reality in the new millennium.
And yes,, Diane Story is my real name.
