Originally from New York, Ms. Pak has traveled to Western Europe, Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Russia, the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and North America writing and photographing nature, landscapes, and people for publications and commercial clients. She has interviewed and written about U.S. senators and state politicians such as Kay Bailey Hutchison and Harryette Ehrhardt, artists and entrepreneurs, private investigators and medical specialists, and has gone on assignment to the jungles, mountains and islands of Malaysia to cover dive resorts, Mount Kota Kinabalu and the boat people of Mabul. She interviewed sub sea pioneer, Dr Phil Nuytten and the world champion in free diving, Tanya Streeter. In Copenhagen, Ms. Symes interviewed the director of the Royal Danish Ballet School, Anne Marie Vessel Schluter, photographed and wrote feature stories about Royal Danish porcelain and glass and interviewed the former speaker of the Danish parliament, Erling Olsen, about the EU and the Euro.
She served as publisher, editor and art director for X-RAY MAG, International Dive Lifestyle Magazine, read by over 157,000 readers in 80 countries since 2004. In addition to her work in media, Ms. Pak served as professor of dance on the faculties of several universities including Kent State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Utah. Ms. Pak holds a master in fine arts in modern dance and bachelors of fine arts degree in ballet from the University of Utah, as well as an associate’s degree in visual communications from Brookhaven College in Texas.
