Benson Soong
Singapore, Singapore Email: bensonsoong@alumni.nus.edu.sg Benson Soong is the founder of Learn More, a social entrepreneurship firm focused on helping teenage students learn better, and co-founder and former Co-CEO and CLO of eLC Pte Ltd, a boutique eLearning firm well-known for their work in the Defence and Education sector in Singapore. Previously, Benson held the appointment of Head of Instructional Design for SGX-listed Singapore Computer Systems Ltd.
A prolific trainer and mentor in learning environments and learning science since 2001, Benson has more than 7 years of direct, hands-on experience in implementing company-wide, government-wide, and industry-wide eLearning, and is actively involved in eLearning courseware design and consultancy. Some of his eLearning projects involved organisations like the Singapore Ministry of Defence, the Singapore Ministry of Education, Universitas 21 Global and Visa Business School.
Benson has been a Judge for Brandon Hall's Excellence in Learning Award since 2003, a Reviewer for the Informing Science & Information Technology Education Joint Conference since 2004, and serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Interactive Learning Research, Journal of Information Technology Education, and Interdisciplinary Journal of Knowledge and Learning Objects, and Interdisciplinary Journal of Information, Knowledge, and Management.
Benson writes actively in the area of eLearning, knowledge management, and learning in general, and has written two books, three book chapters and numerous articles in these areas. His latest book “Study Less, Learn More!” was a Bestseller in Singapore in 2006.
Benson holds a MSc. from the National University of Singapore, and a BSc. and BCom. from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He is currently reading for a PhD (focusing on Education) at Cambridge University. This study is partially funded by the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust.
