Deborah Ecker

Chiangmai, Thailand

Heading with glee towards 50, I am married, a mother, a teacher of Bible History, (and all subjects biblical, actually)and a missionary/housewife. Actually, housewife is my least successful role, to date, but I have been giving it a go nearly 16 years and maybe I'll get it right before we pack it off to the retirement village...

I am a vibrant Christian with an eclectic past--(20 years a devout Roman Catholic, 20 years in a Baptist Charismatic Church, now part of a congregation of missionaries from 20 plus nations and just as many denominations.) Raised a baby-boomer in suburban Pittsburgh, PA. Went to Penn State. Went to Bible school and traveled the globe as a single missionary. Married my gorgeous husband in 87 and we continued the adventure together. Had a son, joy of my heart, in 91. Moved to Northeast Scotland, pastored youth togeher for 5 glorious and challenging years in a fishing village.

Now have lived in Northern Thailand for 4 years, and in the midst of mid life everything and hot flashes int he tropics have learned to read, write and speak an Asian tonal language.I can definately confirm that God has a wonderful sense of humour.

Last year had my first book published in Singapore---exhilerating experience and yearning for more. Sometimes I feel as if I have lived about 5 lifetime in one---and that is so far!!! Plenty of material for stories to come.
