Although I was not aware of it at the time, my humble beginnings as a writer occurred when I was only one day old. As you can see, I was already bored with talking so I turned to writing. Not even the masked wrangler impressed me.
Actually I was an 8-year-old third grader when I had some conscious awareness that writing is a good thing. It was then that several friends and I started a neighborhood newsletter. With typewriter in hand, we named the letter LuCinDa after whom we considered our girlfriends of the time (Lucy, Cindy, and Diane). The newsletter probably shared much about nothing that went on in the neighborhood. Yet, our neighbors were kind enough to give us 25 cents for each newsletter and most paying customers could actually read the carbon blur caused by a dozen carbon sheets.
As the years passed, I took several courses in writing and things didnt seem so blurry or at least I thought. I began writing little stories for children of friends and relatives that included their personal data about their personal lives. This happened about 15 years before such books became popular commercially. It was these stories that formed the basis of my first childrens book, Twelve Upon A Time
In 1997, I made a serious effort at writing by working part-time for a year. The byproduct of that effort was my mystery/adventure novel, Mirror, Mirror at 1600 D.C. After that serious effort, I took a lighthearted approach in my parody book, Side-Stepping the Rules: Broken or Not. In between such efforts, I wrote several published poems: Some Measure of Comfort and Man and Woman in the 21st Century.
