T.H. Tse

Prof. T.H. Tse received his PhD from the London School of Economics and is currently a professor in computer science at The University of Hong Kong. He is the director of The Software Engineering Group, funded by research grants of 13.5 million dollars to date. He has been recognized internationally as the pioneer in integrating formal and practical methods in software engineering. His current research interest is program testing, debugging, and analysis. Application areas of his research include object-oriented software, concurrent systems, pervasive computing, service-oriented applications, graphic applications, and numerical programs. He has more than 200 publications, including papers in IEEE TSE, CACM, ACM TOSEM, ICSE, and FSE, as well as a book in the Cambridge Tracts in Theoretical Computer Science series (paperback edition, 2009).

Prof. Tse is the steering committee chair of QSIC and an editorial board member of Software Testing, Verification and Reliability, Journal of Systems and Software, Software: Practice and Experience, and Journal of Universal Computer Science. He has served as a steering committee member of COMPSAC 2002 to 2008, general chair of APSEC 2012 and SOSE 2007, general vice-chair of ICASE 2011, program chair of COMPSAC 2001 and APAQS 2000, track chair of COMPSAC 2010 to 2012, workshop chair of IWPD 2010 and 2011, and publicity chair of ICST 2008. He was twice a visiting fellow at the University of Oxford and is an advisory professor of East China Normal University.

Prof. Tse is a fellow of the British Computer Society, a fellow of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems, a fellow of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, and a fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He had been a council member of the Vocational Training Council for eight years. He was selected for a Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award, an Outstanding Disabled Person of the Year Award, and a State Science and Technology Award nominated by the Ministry of Education, China. He was decorated with an MBE by The Queen of the United Kingdom.
