Steven Hutchins is an outdoor writer from Michigan whose work has appeared in numerous publications, both statewide as well as nationally. In July 2002, he released his first book, The Fish of a Thousand Casts: Tales of Mischief and Mayhem in the Great Outdoors. Readers everywhere have given the book excellent reviews and sales have been extremely strong. To read an excerpt or find out more, check out www.thousandcasts.com or www.amazon.com
A knowledgeable and avid salmon and steelhead angler, Steve splits his time between instructional articles, journalistic pieces and the humorous stories contained in this book. Of note, his work appears monthly in Woods N Water News, Michigan's largest outdoors publication.

Steven's wit and descriptive style has quickly caught the attention of many readers and earned praise from fellow writers and editors. As an active promoter of Michigan's recreational opportunities, he is involved in a number of programs that encourage safe and ethical angling practices. Steve spends over 200 days a year on the water, and has been represented in Michigan's Master Angler awards program several times, gaining recognition for catching the largest Chinook salmon (catch and release) in the state two years in a row (2000, 2001)!

He lives in west Michigan with his wife, Stephenie Phelps. Stephenie is an accomplished photographer who shoots many of the photographs that appear in Steven's articles.

The Fish of a Thousand Casts is only the beginning. Steve's trademark humor and descriptive writing style are clearly represented in this book…which promises to be the first of many!
