www.foodwinetravel.com.au The seeds for careers and ways of life are often planted long before they become manifest. If anyone had told me as a child that I would become a food and travel writer I would never have believed them, and yet if I look back to my early childhood, I was already avidly writing and dreaming about delicious food and faraway places. I went on to do a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in journalism and worked full-time in newspapers for 22 years, branching out into food, wine and travel, subjects which I am passionate about. I spent nine years as Food & Wine Editor for The Canberra Times, the daily newspaper of Australia's capital city. During that time, I oversaw the development of its Food & Wine section from a tiny one or two pages to a full colour tabloid liftout of 12 or more pages, appearing weekly. In January 2003, I left to pursue opportunities as a freelance food, wine and travel writer. My articles have appeared in a number of publications such as Vacations, Gourmet Traveller Wine, Australian Good Taste and the Qantas in-flight magazine. I welcome the opportunity to write about any country in the world for any publication: books and travel guides, magazines, newspapers or websites. Twenty-two years of journalism has taught me to be careful with my copy, to be conscious of deadlines and to tailor my work to the right market. Having travelled widely in Europe, America, Asia and the Pacific, I continue to be inspired and awed by everything around me. Travel has such a delicious taste!
