Sharon K. Shubert (previously Sharon Cassell), was born Sharon Kay Day in Denison, Texas. With a vivid imagination from an early age, she can remember always wanting to be a writer and an artist. Her sentimental collection of childhood memorabilia includes a book she wrote at the age of 10 titled, The Mystery House.
Poetry writing also began in childhood depicting silly verses and thoughts of the young girl. Her expressive writing continued over the years revealing many subjects, thoughts and desires. Spiritual messages and discoveries experienced in growing up and growing within, were and are often the subject explored.
Sharon's work has been published several times over the years. Most recently, her short story, "VBS and The Art Class" was published in November 2005. This story is included in a collaborative effort with several other authors titled, "Remembering School Days" published by Big Barn Publishing.
A short story, "No Nintendo Whizzes Here", was published in Country Living Magazine by Hearst Publishing in 1994. The same story was also published by Big Barn Publishing, in a book titled, "Texas Family Secrets", in 1997.
Sharon has also won several poetry contests and awards and has written columns for two local newspapers in the past years.
Writing Haiku is her most recent challenge. In 2005 she completed writing two books of her original Haiku titled, "Texas Haiku", and "The Nature of Haiku". In 2006, she began writing her third book of Haiku, "Front Porch Haiku".
Sharon has also written 2 children's poetry books, "The Juicy Purple Pickle", and "My Favorite Animal", which have not been published at this time.
Talents in art are also a gift she treasures and her works in painting, pyrography, sculpting, decoupage', collage' and more, are full of unique designs and imagination brought out in the various mediums. She also enjoys website design, cooking, reading and singing.
Sharon married talented musician and artist, James K. (Ken) Shubert in 2001. They reside in Sherman, Texas after living for many years in Pottsboro, Texas on Lake Texoma.
