I grew up in Holland and New Zealand on a steady diet of science fiction. In the late 60’s New Zealand school children were presented with a study from the Education Department called ‘A Blueprint for Survival’. Unfortunately I no longer have a copy, but it described the coming of a utopian, automated society whereby the biggest problem we would have in life was how to fill our leisure time.
I have dedicated my working life to trying to achieve that situation. Obviously I haven't got there yet, but I have been involved in the introduction of many new technologies and the promotion of their use to improve or enhance our lives.
These days I am best known as a wireless computing evangelist and public speaker. Whilst I have been published and quoted in many articles over the years, I have only just begun more serious writing, having recently published my first eBook, Unleashing the Road Warrior and the first in a series of papers on topics to do with mobile computing, being a treatise on eBooks and ePublishing, eating my own cooking by publishing them to be read on handheld computers and smartphones.
I was a founding member of the NZ Wireless Data Forum and served on the committee for 3 years, including as the first elected President. Recent speaking engagements (over 50 in the last 2 years) include being co-chair of Customer Contact World Africa 2002 running the stream CRM goes Mobile as well as presenting a paper and workshop.
I am Managing Director of the NZ Smartphone and PDA Academy, offering consultancy and training to people who use or are looking to use handheld computers in their business and personal life.
I am currently looking for an international agent and publisher/s for 3 new books for 2003. Interests: Working smarter rather than harder. Handheld computers and PDA's. Mobile and Wireless Computing.
