Clare originally trained as a schoolteacher but has worked as a freelance writer since 1991. She has written on a wide range of general interest and women's topics and has published hundreds of articles and reviews. Her work has appeared in titles such as The Sunday Times, The Mail on Sunday, Time Out, Zero, HMV Choice, Woman's Realm and Chat as well as in various trade magazines and online in ezines such as Subba-Cultcha and Counterculture. She writes regularly on the arts,leisure industry, food and drink and on travel/tourism-related topics.
Her non-fiction book Living and Working in London was published in January 2000 by Survival Books in the UK.
She has also published short stories and poems in various anthologies, small-press magazines and online e-zines both in the UK and around the world. She is currently working on her first novel.
Clare is married to a professional musician with whom she writes songs for the band Species 8472, and has two young sons. Originally a Londoner, she now lives in Scotland. Her interests include music, movies, organic gardening, rambling and swimming.
