Former bass player in a rock band, re-discovered walking in his mid-twenties.
Progressed to journalism, speciality reviews of clothing and equipment for walking,
backpacking and adventure travel. Equipment editor / consultant to four major UK
walking titles (TGO, Trail, Country Walking, Walking Abroad) and regular columnist
for many more, including Geographical magazine and the Daily Telegraph.
Contributor of travel features to national newspapers, including Independent on
Sunday, Sunday Mirror, Daily Telegraph, Express, Express on Sunday, The Times.
Crew member of the rigid inflatable powerboat "Spirit of Cardiff", which in 2002
made an epic voyage around the world. His online updates and subsequent book
"Confronting Poseidon" were hailed as important contributions to marine journalism.
The resulting TV documentary filmed by Clive was broadcast on National
Geographic's Adventure One channel to 160 million households in 144 countries
worldwide. Along with his Spirit of Cardiff crewmates, Clive holds 34 official UIM
powerboating world records. In 2017, he will be making another attempt at the
powerboat round the world record as onboard journalist and video cameraman crew
member of Team Britannia.
