Nochipa D

Columbia, Kentucky, United States

When I was a child, my father, the iliterate grandson of a Native American/Mexican sharecropper, said he saw a gift in me, the gift of storytelling. He asked me to hone this gift, to get an education and find a way to preserve the stories of his grandfathers. He told me that he hoped I would be a writer one day, and honor my people with my gift.

I have recently finished the first in a series of sci-fi/fantasy books, using stories and legends from around the world, but mostly from the Americas, as a doing so, I hope not only to honor my own ancestors but all those First Americans whose teachings and cultures offer us so much wisdom. Maybe I will inspire and entertain others along the way. Who knows?
