My name is Manuel Manoj Kumar Mitra. While having that name wasn't so great on the playgrounds of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada it helps to have a long ethnic name when writing.
I was born in India, grew up in Canada and have lived on four different continents. I am married and have three kids.
Trying to fit into different cultures forced me to observe mannerisms and idioms. Getting to live in different countries allows me to listen to the voices of people and what they say when they aren't saying anything. Having this insight allows me to put in something beyond just description in my writing.
I have been published several times in "The International American" magazine and many daily newspapers.
I can speak English and Turkish fluently and can embarass myself in Mahrathi (Indian dialect), Ndebele (Zimbabwean tribal language), and German.
I have an unpublished manuscript that I am shopping around and would welcome any suggestions; providing they are neither obscene nor physically impossible.
Interests: traveling, writing, being with my family
