As a child Jamie Bisher cultivated penpals in Russia and other forbidden places, finagled visits to the Soviet Embassy in Washington and saved his meager earnings from after-school jobs to make a pilgrimage to the May Day parade in East Berlin. His rich job experiences--7/11 clerk on the 11-7 "robbery shift," bottom-rung propagandist for a liberal congressman, chauffeur for the Lebanese Embassy, desk clerk at the Watergate, "Beltway Bandit" analyst and other shady and nefarious occupations--belie hard-earned academic credentials: a B.S. degree from the United States Air Force Academy, a graduate certificate in linguistics from American University, and a master's degree in international management from the University of Maryland. He works on international projects for a defense electronics firm in Maryland and is the son of legendary sportswriter Furman Bisher of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
He has published more than 30 non-fiction articles (and a few book reviews) in magazines, journals and newspapers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Belize, Japan, Russia and Mexico on intelligence history, military and naval history, animals and other topics. His first book, White Terror: Cossack Warlords of the Trans-Siberian was published by Taylor & Francis in 2005. He is currently working on a book about the intelligence war in Latin America during World War I.
