Robert Gallinger served in the U.S. Army for over twenty-five years (12 years enlisted, 3 years warrant officer and 10 years as a commissioned officer), retiring as a major. He served another seventeen years with the National Security Agency and the Department of the Army as a civil servant.
Entering the Army from Syracuse, New York at the age of seventeen with only an eighth-grade education, Robert decided to attend night school after basic training. Soon, he took a General Educational Development (GED) test, earning a high school diploma from the state of New York. Later, again during night school, he earned a Bachelor of Business Admin degree (BBA) from the University of Alaska while he was serving in Fairbanks. After retirement from the Army, he earned two Master of Science degrees from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. One master's was in Telecommunications Operations Management and the second was in Public Adminstration.
Throughout his military and civil service careers, he was posted to Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and served twice in Vietnam. These assignments, with various stateside ones in between, provided Robert the opportunity to research firsthand many persons, places and things, which he was able to use in developing his fictional writing skills. www.bookworldinfo.com, his author's information website, provides a more detailed biography, along with synopses and complete chapter excerpts of his novels.
