I am a journalist attached to the Daily News the English daily with largest circulation in Sri Lanka. I joined the Daily News as a trainee in 1997 and improved my journalistic skills to become a fultime journlist.
I was 22 when I joined the Daily News in 1997. I had my primary education at a village Government school and the secondary education at Taxila Central College, Horana. English being the second language of mine, I prefer to have furhter English education at quinas University College and Sri Lanka technical College. I obtained National Diploma in English before joining the Daily News.
Though, I never believed, that I could become a journalist or a English writer, it has become a reality.
My field of interest was always with the defence reporting since I had to live in a country which is ravaged by a civil conflict. It gives me pleasure to report on war situation in the country and the severe hardships undergoing by the fellow citizen.
Five years after joining the Daily News I had the chance to follow a course on International News Writing conducted by the Reuters Foundation, in London. I think I have a long way to gon in this field and I hope to become a good writer. My field of interest in the Interests: Defence reporting, political affairs and conflict reporting
