Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada Email: g.sorestad@sk.sympatico.ca Glen Sorestad is the Poet Laureate of Saskatchewan -- though at seventeen it is the last thing he might have expected he'd become. After a failed one-year banking career and too many years of stuffy classrooms trying to convince adolescents that poetry would not harm them, he resigned a teaching career to take up the publishing of poetry through a literary press he helped to found. In 2000 he left publishing behind, took up writing fulltime and amazingly enough became a poet laureate. He has read his work at public readings all over North America, as well as in France, Norway, Finland and Slovenia.
Born in Vancouver, he grew up in Saskatchewan and has lived in Saskatoon since 1967. He has over a dozen books of poetry, the latest of which is a twenty-five year Selected Poems volume called Leaving Holds Me Here(2001). Interests: Travel, fishing, book collecting, wines/vineyards
