As a conservatory trained pianist, wife of an engineering professor and sister of a
painter, I draw on music, science and art for my writing. A multiple Pushcart Prize
nominee and Best of the Net winner, I am well- published, with over four hundred
stories and poems in print and online literary magazines, as well as various
anthologies..

My first chapbook of poetry ('Flower Half Blown,' Finishing Line Press, 2002) was
nominated for the Ohioana Book Award in Poetry. My second book of poems,
'Epithalamion' (Little Poem Press,2004) featured two Pushcart Prize nominated
poems. 'Samsara'(Pudding House Publications, 2007) is tightly themed--its
eighteen poems are inspired by Indian culture. My fourth collection, 'Prisoner's
Dilemma' won the 2008 Lopside Press chapbook contest, and is fully illustrated by
Janet Snell. Our new collaboration,'Geometries' was published by Moria Books in
2015.

My novel,'Shiva's Arms'(The Writer's Lair Books) is about cultural identity,
reconciliation, and the meaning of home. The manuscript won an honorable
mention in the Dana Awards and finalist status for the Omaha Prize and the
Serena MacDonald Kennedy Award. My second novel, 'Rescuing Ranu' follows one
of the characters from Shiva's Arms into an adventure involving evolutionary
biology, Hamilton's Rule, and altruism.

Interests: art, playing piano, reading, blogging with my sister on Scattered Light.
