Peg Watts-Cartwright

Born on August 4th. 1959, and raised on Long Island, New York, Peg has spent most of her adult career as a teacher. Also mixed race Chickamauga Band Cherokee, and proud of her heritage -- she's been a traditional dancer at pow wows and cultural events for many years. Her social conscious leans toward Native rights and children’s issues. She is also a proud part of that group which allows itself to be called Deadheads, and a fan of Harley Davidson motorcycles. Peg has two children who are grown, and feels being a mother remains her greatest accomplishment.

Her education spans an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Los Angeles Valley College, two semesters studying English at Suffolk Community college (Long Island, New York), a year at SUNY Stony Brook, (Long Island, New York) as an English major, and is presently a special education teacher for a small rural school district in NW AZ.

A first time author, although she has had poems entitled GHOST published in an anthology called THE SPIRIT WITHIN, in 2000. And another poem, ATTACKS ON THE SOUL published in 2003.

Peg Watts-Cartwright has written two novels: CHASING VENUS and DREAMS AND THE VENUS DIARY. CHASING VENUS is due out in the summer of 2004, through PublishAmerica. She studied writing with noted poet, author, and critic Vince Clemente (Long Island, New York) and was awarded Best Writer in his Creative Writing classes at Suffolk College two semesters (1987, 1988).

She currently reside in Northwest, Arizona, with her husband – writer and archaeologist, R.S. Cartwright.
