Carolyn Smith (a/k/a Russell)

Poplar Bluff, Missouri, United States

Home page:

Former teacher and higher education adminstrator, I have raised five children and have lived in various parts of the United States. Born and raised in Indiana, I received my teaching degree from Ball State University while raising five children. I taught junior and senior high school special education students at Connersville High School for nearly five years before making the transition to higher education.

While writing has been hobby since childhood, I never submitted anything until the last decade. Although successful with short stories, my love is mainstream fiction. I have written three books and am currently working on the fourth. My most recent book, "Hole in Her Heart" received first place, Mainstream Fiction, in "Great Beginnings Writing Competition," sponsored by the Heartland Writers Guild, at the biennial conference in June 2002.
