Hello! I am a twenty - four year old African - American woman who has vast experience in writing since elementary school. I began my love of writing poetry with the admirmation of how the power of words affect people's lives. As a young child, I grew up listening to my grandfather's Christian poetry recitations in church. These recitations create a strong awareness of how poetry influence certain perspectives on my life. I started writing poetry in my classes in school and share many of them with my classmates. After high school, I attend college and major in English. I have taken several literature, composition and language classes where I use my talents for writing to show my love for poetry. I also have two poems entitled "Family" (A Picture of Elegance, 1998), and "Lost Love", (The Sound of Poetry, 2002). Also, I have written several research papers in my college classes on several literary issues and authors including Gloria Naylor, Maya Angelou, and F. Scott Fitzgerald. In addition, I have participated in the UNCF/Mellon Minority Research program at Emory University (1997 -1999) and a minority graduate recruitment program at Ohio and Ohio State universities (1998). After graduating from college in 1999, I began working in retail. Currently, I am still employed in retail but planning to attend graduate school in the near future. My poetry deals with connecting issues with emotions such as depression with love. I also write poems about special hoildays, nature and religious issues.

Interests: I love to read all types of books including romance, inspiritional and mysteries and also write poetry. In addition, I enjoy using the Web to do research on various topics which interests me such as music, sports, and shopping.
