North Augusta, South Carolina, United States Email: mizsmif@earthlink.net Like any aspiring writer, I began my craft as a teenager, graduating from sappy romances to the finely honed Southern novel. I am a happy wife and the mother of three perfect kids, and a dedicated English teacher. When I'm not mothering or teaching, I am reading or writing. I have written three novellas, two coming-of-age, one more like a Southern romantic-comedy/dysfunctional-family-saga (though at a meager 219 pages, I don't suppose it's technically a "saga.") I also write and illustrate children's books, but more for my kids' entertainment than anything else. I have published short stories in the local college literary magazine four times and even made it into their "best-of 25th anniversary" edition. I have also won 2nd and 3rd place at the local writers' conference in the novel, short story, and children's literature categories. My writing coach once told me I'd be published before 30 if I tried hard enough. Well, I'm 42, so I guess you know what that means - I've been too busy living to try to get published. (I'm convinced that to get published, one must give up living for several months or years - either that or quit sleeping, and I'm an 8-hours-a-night sleeper.) I have amassed a collection of 50-odd rejection letters, but, as a reader-friend likes to tell me, Stephen King got 100 before he was published, so I suppose I'm only half-way there. Interests: Two of my favorite places are the library and Edisto, SC, neither of which is enjoyable unless a good book is at hand, either one off the shelves or one I'm writing. My mother's forays to the grocery store are to blame for this literary bent because
