I was born in a log cabin... oh, wait. That was somebody else.

Once upon a time... drat. It's been done.

It was a dark and stormy night... Nope. Never gonna get anyone interested in that one. They'll fall asleep before they finish.

How about this:

I'm a middle-aged freelance writer and television producer living in the Boston area. In 1998, I decided to throw all caution to the winds, and I gave in to the inevitability of being a writer. I quit the day job.

In that time, I have managed to

- publish several stories and articles in international magazines,

- complete a fiction manuscript (working title, "Steps") which I am now trying to get out in the world,

- write a regular column about journaling/memoirs for a local newspaper syndicate, published semi-monthly,

- teach several journaling and memoir writing workshops in area adult education centers,

- win several prizes as a filmmaker/screenwriter in national competitions,

- write the annual "advertorial" for an international photography studio headquartered in Boston,

- win the grand prize in an international writing competition sponsored by Four Seasons Hotels and Singapore Airlines, and

- last but not least, go nearly broke in the process.

I've learned several valuable lessons. I'm looking for an agent, and in the meantime, I'm writing myself crazy--or is it sane?
