 Memphis, Tennessee, United States Email: jwsmith9@earthlink.net I was born in Southern Missouri but grew up in West Tennessee. Worked as a Memphis police officer during the 1960’s and 1970's while earning a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Memphis. I left the police department for a short period to pursue a career in medical sales after graduation but continued in law enforcement working as a reserve Memphis police officer serving in the Narcotics Squad, Vice Squad, , Organized Crime Unit, and General Investigations. I later returned to the Memphis Police Department and retired from the Department after 26 yrs with a combination of active duty with MPD and AG's Office and reserve service. I was appointed Criminal Investigator with the District Attorney’s Office in 1990, assigned to Grand Jury investigations where I investigated fatal shootings by law enforcement officers and misconduct by police officers. Selected by the District Attorney to serve as his representative on a FBI Crime Task Force and was deputized as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal. Now retired from law enforcement and living in Memphis, Tennessee. Interests: Hiking, horseback riding, reading and writing
